I enjoy sketching en plain air. The act alone of carrying a sketchbook encourages me to observe my surroundings more closely. The time and effort needed to capture a place in ink or watercolor engages all my senses, immortalizing an otherwise fleeting moment. Flipping through the pages, the vignettes not only display the scene itself, but also evoke the mood and energy of each space. Sketching and painting anchors me in the place and provides more insight into my short time there.
